Lab day event

It’s only a matter of days until the Ogilvy Lab Day Event, which we will be attending. At Clothes Network we provide a Platform that removes the barriers between retailers and their customers. Created by industry leading computer scientists, using Machine Learning AI, Advanced NLP, and Computer Vision technologies our pioneering solutions bring Social Sharing, user content curation and Mobil Apps to the next level and keep ‘connecting the connected.’

It is true to say that our lives are becoming more digital year by year with little boundary between our ‘physical and digital worlds, which are now becoming ever-more blurred and this is set to continue with the rapid proliferation of connected objects and devices.’ Clothes Network has prepared themselves to be the new way of online shopping and for technology changes that will be happening, ‘gearing up for a more connected world.’

The Ogilvy event pivots on our beliefs and understandings. Throughout the day the event will be focusing towards 4 key sectors: work, play, disruption and spaces.

WORK

Hearing from the experiences of those already using IoT within their business. What worked, what didn’t and what would they do differently?

PLAY

Technology has opened up new ways that we connect and play with the world around us, in this session we will discuss a selection of playable examples that can work for brands to have more fun with its consumer interactions.

DISRUPTION

Innovation is a disrupting force to any process but it is necessary to evolve and keep you ahead of your competitors. In this session we will hear from various experts who will share their learnings of how they successfully disrupted and how you could do too!

SPACES

The spaces we live, work and play in are becoming more connected and are enabling us to create more meaningful experiences with the environment you are in. In this session we will hear from a range of speakers who are looking to connect to the environment we exist in.

We are looking forward to a variety of speakers that are attending the day from Alex Deschamps-Sonsino an interaction designer, product designer and entrepreneaur to Andy Stanford-Clar, Chief Technology Officer.

Andy Stanford-Clark is a IBM Distinguished Engineer and ‘Master Inventor’ with more than 40 patents. An interesting factor is he is highly interested in driving consumer behavior change, something of particular interest to Clothes Network. He has a BSc in Computing and Mathematics, and a PhD in Computer Science, which is why we believe his talks, will be of a spectacular standard and great interest.

Alex Deschamps- Sonsino was named 2nd in Top 100 Internet of Things Thought Leaders and is also in the 2014 top 100 Influential Tech Women on Twitter according to Business Insider.

It is set to be a great event!

iCloud

Apple is once again covering the news feeds on the Internet, however, this time not for positive reasons. Apple’s iCloud facility, which allows uses to backup and store personal data, such as images and passwords has been in the scrutiny of the media and public eye due to its ‘fundamental security flaws.’

Countless intimate images of celebrities of been leaked onto social media sites thanks to their data being stolen from the online service. It has been discovered that Apple’s security verification processes can be easily by passed using readily available apps, which allow instant access to iCloud back-ups.

Although Apple have refused to comment, they have stated that hackers are required to know the individuals email address and password and believe the two-step verification, which requires users to users to secure their account further through a code authorisation, offers high levels of security for each individual using their services.

‘Apple suggested its customers "always use a strong password and enable two-step verification" after it acknowledged that some of its accounts had been compromised by a "very targeted attack".

But one expert said Apple had given people "a false sense of security".’

There was been little hiding the fact users are easily able to hack into iCloud accounts with discussion forms even recommending the software to do it. Computer programmer, Vladimir Katalov, allegedly created the software in Moscow.

Apple’s website states the security they have in place to is protect against:

  • The My Apple ID webpage, where users can manage their iCloud account
  • App Store, iTunes or iBooks Store purchases from a new device
  • Getting Apple ID-related support

Celebrities that have claimed to be affected by the hacking are Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence and Selena Gomez to name a few.

Our simple advice on protecting yourself from becoming victim is to ensure you have longer, stronger passwords with mixed characters and numbers and never use the same password across all the platforms. By doing that you are weakening your online existence and allowing for an easier route to intercept a re-set request and login.
